Here at Trade Risk we don’t have any involvement in workers compensation insurance, but we’d still like to help you out with some information.

Workers compensation is a form of insurance which is used to protect your business and your staff financially if they are injured on the job.

We sometimes get sole traders calling us about workers comp. If you operate as a sole trader you will find that workers comp is not available to you. Instead what you want is income protection.

The way that workers comp is managed in each state differs, so we below we have detailed some information for each state and who you need to get in contact with.

Queensland

Workers compensation in the sunshine state is managed by WorkCover Qld, which is fully owned by the Qld Government.

All issues relating to workers comp including quotes and claims are managed directly by WorkCover Qld, and their website has some great calculators and information for employers.

Here at Trade Risk we are unable to assist with workers compensation for Qld businesses, and you must instead go through the state government body.

WorkCover Qld can be contacted on 1300 362 128, and more information can be found on their website at www.workcoverqld.com.au.

New South Wales

In NSW there are several agents who have been appointed by the state government to issue policies and handle claims etc.

Whilst Trade Risk does not have any involvement in workers comp for NSW, a number of the insurance companies we deal with do. We have detailed their contact details below:

Why Can’t Trade Risk Assist?

Because of the differing rules and regulations around Australia we made the decision not to get involved in workers compensation insurance.

The various government agencies and the insurers have worked together to create systems that make it easy for employers to get covered, so unlike public liability and other forms of insurance there is little point using a broker.

If you have tried contacting the government agencies and insurers directly and haven’t had any luck, feel free to call us and we’ll see if we can help.

Whilst we cannot provide advice on workers compensation, we will of course do anything we can to help our existing loyal clients.
